Launching an extrusion line, a supply of DC electric motor, setting up ABB electric drives.

Our company supplied the DC motor for the extruder! After delivery of the electric motor we agreed upon commissioning of the equipment. Our engineers configured the electric motor control and set up the parameters of ABB DCS550-S01-0315-05 converter. During the process of setting up the electric drives, we found out that the extruder thermal protection of the electric motor was turned off, we restored the temperature control circuits of the electric motor and made the drive appropriate settings. The motor temperature control was provided via PTC sensors. We adjusted the motor cooling operation. Equipment was put into operation.

 Parameters of the supplied electric motor:

• power: 112 kW;
• armature: 254A, 440V;
• excitation: 5.6A, 220V;
• mounting version: IM B35;
• cooling: IC06;
• protection degree: IP23.

Possible reason for the predecessor motor failure: damage to the windings due to overheating. The equipment did not use temperature control circuits for the electric motor windings; the electronics could not protect the electric motor from an emergency.

In addition to this our engineers restored the temperature control circuits on the other lines (programming PTC protection on ABB electric drives DCS550-S01-0270-05, DCS550-S01-0900-05 and ACS580-01-363A-4, laying cable circuits between PTC sensors and electric drive inputs). The software was translated from Chinese into English and Russian versions.  We equipped the motors with Radio Energie RE.0444 L1B tachogenerators to maintain speed.
